A Word About Links

Meta

Since we are finally getting links up, I wanted to say a few words about linking. Some of these points should be self-evident, but experience teaches that they are not.

  • Linking another site does not represent endorsement of its content or proprietors. I routinely read sites with which I disagree 90% of the time and whose proprietors I consider to be irritating and/or abominable. Reading such sites is useful because it exposes me to competing ideas and informs me about the prevailing talking points among groups with whom I disagree. And sometimes they’re right about something. Some of the sites linked here are linked because they are people with whom I generally agree. Some are linked because, though I generally agree with them, I consider them thoughtful. Some I consider crass propagandists, but ones whose propaganda I expect to encounter and would like to be informed about. Then there’s the stuff that Patrick links, which is inexplicable.
  • You certainly shouldn’t assume that because a blog is linked here, that all our bloggers think it is worth linking, even under the theory I have just explained.
  • We like to link friends who are blog hobbyists like us. Have we left you off? Don’t pout. Send an email. A reciprocal link would be appreciated.

Another word about links, particularly directed to contributors. There is a thread in the hidden portion of our forum, the one where the seven diamond companion models stay, on this topic. You should visit it. The links that stand now are Ken’s and mine, and of those I’d say over 80% are Ken’s. (Ken wanted to link instapundit.) We’ll be happy to add any links requested by Popehat contributors immediately, or if you know how, you can do it yourself.

Also, this list isn’t complete. There are a few more on the way, in a category that Ken so far has proven too lazy to populate.

And I’d add the Bovine Conspiracy, but it appears, finally, to have died.

    I miss you guys.

I miss it too. The few months when it was truly active was some of the best internet times of my life (especially that one moment where Patrick’s Google-skillz, everyone else’s ability to relentlessly antagonize, and our newfound ability to abuse mod powers all came together). The podcast is just about the only thing still quasi active.

The quick answer as to why it died is, “we all burned out.” The longer answer requires a blog post of it’s own.

So, where does that leave me? Am I endorsed or unendorsed? I’d hate to think you were using my blog to rally the IAP (Ill-informed Adoptive Parent) troops against me. ;)
